- Part 3: Last Resorts - Packaged Deals

Packaged Deals

Say you have two domain names that could be used for the same market. The first domain name is something great that’s pulling in offers, like www.VisitMexico.com, while the other, www.MexicanVisits4aTraveler.net, is something you’ve not been able to sell for almost a year now. Why not sell them together as a package deal? You can raise the price of www.VisitMexico.com a little bit and offer the less desirable domain name for free to the person who buys it.

Another way to sell that horrible domain name is to put it in a package with a developed website. Even if the site itself is not getting a terribly high amount of traffic, the fact of the matter is that people are really lazy. Use effective marketing and make a big deal out of the fact that you are offering a domain name and a developed website. The kicker to this is that the website will be what captures the buyers, so it has to be fairly good. You can’t just have a homepage with one nonsensical article on it. SEO is important and your site has to be attractive. If you potential buyers see a vision of how well the site could do, they may be willing to buy, even if the domain name is pretty bad.
