- Part 5: “Domain For Sale” Sign
“Domain For Sale” Sign
The easiest way to develop your domain name in order to add value is to just create a for sale sign. No really—that’s all you have to do. Don’t use cheesy blinking graphics or post pictures and articles; just make a single professional page that says the domain name is for sale. List your asking price, contact information, and any stats that are worth posting.
You can take this a step farther as well and post your entire portfolio online. This takes only a few minutes to create and can should include any similar domain names near the top of the page so that interested buyers can see the options you can for sale. They might be considering the domain name www.TurquoisTurtles.com, but if they check out that site and see that you also have www.TealTurtles.com for sale, they might make up their mind then and there to make a purchase. You never know exactly what other people want, so give your customers options.
When you do post a for sale sign or your portfolio, however, make sure that you update it when you sell a site. If a potential buyer is gung-ho about www.TealTurtles.com and contacts you only to find out that the site was sold a month ago, they may be so dismayed about missing out on www.TealTurtles.com (the perfect name) that they no longer even want to think about using www.TurquoisTurtles.com. You’ll lose the sale.
